As you can tell from looking, AustCrimeFiction.org has had "yet another refresh". This time not because I was bored, but for a slight change in direction. For ages now I've been looking for a way to better manage the review queues - it's tricky keeping track of what books need to be read when (I know first world problems), but it does lead to some annoyed publishers, publicists and authors, and leaves me panic struck sometimes.
So to do something about the constant feelings of "where / what / oh god I've forgotten", I've added a lot of fields, lists and information to the new version of AustCrime in an attempt to get it to behave like a scheduling tool and book record, as well as a place to post information.
Time will only tell if this will become yet another way for me to stuff up, but at least, I hope, it will show willing.
A lot of posts from the old site are still being reformatted / refactored to fit with this new layout. I started with the most recent and am working my way backwards - which means around 20 years of records. It'll take a while. Hopefully as each author brings out a new book I'll cluster the catch up around them which might mean things look a little unfair at times.
I'm also thinking carefully about the responses that I can provide to the frankly awful political posturing and hate mongering in various pariah states around the world. I'm going to be removing some books / entries because of that, and will be refusing review copies from countries whose position on the issues that matter are not aligned with common human decency.
