Silver Bay is an idyllic lakefront town where people go to escape. When Cleo Williams learns her aunt’s cottage will be vacant all summer, she immediately packs a bag, despite the awful night that drove her away ten years ago.
The day after she arrives, the body of the town’s golden girl Chrissy Stieversen washes up on the waterfront, and Cleo is reminded of some unpleasant truths about Silver Bay: Lies, dysfunction and secrets plague this supposedly sleepy town.
Cleo suspects she’s made a mistake in coming back, but when she finds Chrissy’s diary and takes it to her brother, he makes her an offer she can’t refuse. Soon, Cleo is entangled in the Silver Bay drama; a town determined to protect itself at all costs.
And then someone else is killed.
As buried secrets worm their way to the surface and Cleo gets closer to the truth, she realizes that she herself could be in danger.
