BLOG

There's nothing like being up to your elbows in the doing of something to make sure that you're going to be late in the writing about something.  Besides - there's nothing more boring than somebody banging on about what they did last weekend.

Suffice to say that I was lucky enough to be able to help out with the staging of the annual Davitt Awards which we held as part of the SheKilda(link is external) convention this year.  The Convention was put together to celebrate 20 years of Sisters in Crime in Australia, to celebrate some wonderful wonderful books and authors and to have a good time.  All of which were achieved.  In spades.

But the Davitt Award results:

Best True Crime Book

Colleen Egan for Murderer No More (Allen & Unwin)  - now happily sitting on the TBR pile.

Best Children's / Young Adult Book

Penny Matthews for A Girl Like Me (Penguin Books Australia)

Highly Commended:  Randa Abdel Fattah for Noah’s Law: Crime, Punishment & Paper Jams (PanMacmillan)

Best Adult Novel:

Katherine Howell for Cold Justice (PanMacmillan)

Highly Commended:  Leigh Redhead for Thrill City

Readers' Choice Award:

P M Newton for The Old School
